Rikke's Notes: Pics from the Snow!

Brrrrrrrr.  The last couple days have been cold and very snowy.  So what else is new?  As of right now (5:30 p Friday night) we've got lots of snow floating on top of the rain that came down most of the day.  Very, very slushy.  Hopefully the snow/ice dam down by West Kingston Rd will break soon and let the water that's sitting on the fields out.

Anyway, here's some pics from the last couple days:

This is Marti, a Buff Orpington.

This is Toony, who looks rather cold.  She's an Americauna.

Chicken coop, all closed up in the snow.

View down the pasture, very, verry collllddd.

This is the vegetable patch.  The winds blew off the row tunnel covering (we have yet to figure out how to stop that).  Then the snows fell.  Luckily the snow'll keep the veggies nice and warm.

Count the little birds in the picture!  Boy, were they happy that the feeder wasn't snow-covered!

The hoop house in the snow.  We have knocked snow off the roof about 3 times before this picture was taken.  We'd have another 3 or 4 times of knocking before the storm was finished.  The house is built strong, and we probably didn't need to knock off the snow that many times, but it made us feel better.

She's made for the snow and adores it.  She's always a happy dog, but I'd say she's been ecstatic the last couple days.

Something needs sniffing over there!

Florence trundled out to get a drink.  Snow bothers the goats less than rain, but they aren't super happy in either.

She's chewing on wood rat leather, which is the hollowed out husk of a wood rat she caught some time back.  She leaves the carcasses outt, lets them dry and tan in the sun/wind/rain, then chews on them leisurely.  This one, is better because it's been frozen into a wood-ratcicle!  Yea, it's gross, but we actually like her this way.  It's part of her job as a farm dog.

Pheww, that was a lot of uploading

I still think this could be a niche market someone could look into.

Yeah, it makes me glad my cat only brings me fresh things.

Your place looks a lot like mine only substitute sheep for goats, omit the dog and replace her with one very frustrated cat who REEEEALLY wants to be outside even though this white crap is everywhere and makes his paws icky. He keeps walking in and out of the house, wailing at the top of his lungs for us to make it all stop.

It makes me glad our [guinea] piggies content themselves with vegetables... :)
